Locate the drain valve on your water heater and connect one end of the hose there. Remember to wear the gloves. Set the other end of the hose into a large bucket or drainage ditch outside to collect the excess water and sediment. Once the hose is secure, turn the valve back on and allow the water to drain. 

Perform the Flush Several Times 

Once the water drains for a minute, go to the kitchen and run the hot water faucet for a few moments to help the tank empty. Then you can close the water supply valve again until the draining stops.
