How Does A Sump Pump Work?

During a rain storm water will saturate the soil beside your house and can accumulate under the foundation. The sump pump basin sits under your house and collects this water.  As the basin fills the float switch is triggered and the pump activates. The water is then pumped up through a discharge pipe and away from your home.  As the water levels drops, the float switch will disengage and turn off the pump.
