Smoke Residue Cleaning Methods: “Clean For Paint”
If the smoke residue is not oily, dry cleaning yields the best results. In these images, SERVPRO of Upper Darby’s fire restoration team is using a dry-clean sponge to pre-clean the non-greasy surfaces before more extensive cleaning commences.
When the smoke and soot damage is this extensive, sealing and prepping of the surfaces are necessary. Once the smoke residue is cleaned, sealants, primers or paints can be applied. This technique is called 'clean for paint'.
